Memeology V1.0

Hello everyone!

Just a while ago I released my newest game: Memeology

https://xaneco.itch.io/memeology

It is the first game I've launched here which was done with the help of a team! This launch wouldn't be possible without them so I want to thank Ikazinha and John Pineapple for their amazing contributions!

The game was developed for the Pirate Software Game Jam 14, with the "It's Spreading" theme.

After discussing some initial ideas we settled on a modern setting and so the idea of creating and sharing memes, thus spreading them, was born. The entire game revolves around this concept and we think it works really well for a full release later down the line!

The main goal for the player is to correctly guess the preferred types of humour of each website by analising how well received their memes are.

What went well

Writting the design document for this game went really smoothly. Ideas were added and improved during the first days of the jam. And every planned mechanic made it in.

It is also quite replayable, in the game you get 3 Websites you have to research however they are randomly picked from a pool of currently 5. So different runs may require different strategies!

What went meh

There is some cut content you can read about in the design document. The biggest loss for us was the pixel art artstyle which we really wanted to implement as it completes our vision for the game.

Every image in the game is currently taken from commercially free stock websites, which works okay, but with custom art we could really make each and every piece of content unique and fun in its own way.

The future

The future is always uncertain, but what do we want from it?

A full steam release would be great! Finalizing the vision for this project would be really big for all of us in the team. We'll be analyzing the community's reception (haha ironic) to gauge their interest on this kind of game.

Game Launch

We hope you have fun creating your own memes, and good luck on getting that A+ !
